Revolutionizing customer experience through cloud-based order management systems

Wabtec is growing at a rapid rate, with multiple mergers and acquisitions taking place within the company, causing consequences from both an organizational and technological standpoint. This was exacerbated in the area of ERPs – arising the question of what is the best way to work with the legacy IT systems that have been inherited into the company to be able to operate as one larger company consisting of many high-functioning internal business units.

The biggest challenge? How to manage all customer orders and invoices all coming from different, newly acquired, companies and distribute them to the correct internal business unit.

Results

Working alongside Oracle and Trinamix, Wabtec has utilized Oracle ERP Cloud Service to be deployed as an Order Management System.

Though still in the foundation stages of the project, Wabtec has approached these revolutionary changes in a unique way, by demonstrating and testing the new processes on just one of their many ERPs prior to rolling it out across the board.

Having run the changes under a technology demonstrator project, the new implementations posed by the Wabtec team were able to get the buy-in from the technology leadership, as they saw how it played out prior to the actual implementation.

By showing proof of concept, apprehensions around the new technology were eased, proving that an incremental approach can be strategically advantageous.
